About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in New Mexico. I work with adolescents, adults, and families who desire healing and authentic connection with SELF and others. My clients tend to be truth seekers. Those who are willing to take up the often-challenging task of compassionate self-exploration. I enjoy serving people who are motivated, committed to their own healing journey, inspired to do the dirty work, and who want to, who need to go deep. I love working with young people and their families and supporting them to develop communication skills and ways of relating that promotes flourishing for all members.

I am trained in Family Systems, EFT, & Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) which is grounded in neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness, & somatics. AEDP focuses on healing suffering and encourages growth and transformance, while undoing the sometimes unbearable pain of aloneness. Sessions with Katherine are deep, transformative, and promote healing from the start. My nature is warm, compassionate, relational, emotion focused, and creative. To borrow from astrologer, Rob Brezsny, I deliver “wisdom wrapped in whimsy.”
Uniquely sensitive to the needs of others, my background gives me a holistic perspective on all things human. In addition to being a counselor, I’m a Registered Nurse who specialized in palliative care for over a decade, a longtime Zen (mindfulness) practitioner, and I have taught/practiced yoga for over two decades, and she has curated and taught creative process workshops throughout the years. Basically, I’m obsessed with understanding the Great Mystery, and I seek out experiences that stretch my limits of understanding. The truth is No one knows what’s going on here
I received my Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (emphasis in Somatics) at Prescott College. I trained in the complex art of family therapy at The Sky Center in Santa Fe, NM and I’m a Level 2 Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) practitioner. I have done and continue to do my own deep and difficult work. I am a reluctant Jungian, who has been studying the work of Carl Jung for well over 10 years. In this time, I have worked with Jungian analysts on my own dreams and complexes and this exploration continues, so time with me will be informed by all of my teachers and experience- all in service to you.

Professional Counseling
What I know for sure and what science says too:
Relationships shape us. The experience of being seen, accepted, and understood by another person is a basic human need that when not met can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and other painful emotions. Transformation and healing happen in the moment and in the context of relationships. My approach is open, accepting, compassionate, non-pathologizing, relational, emotion-focused, and somatic. My roots are in creative movement, yoga, mindfulness, neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology systems theory, and I will meet you with a healthy dose of humor when appropriate. I support people seeking to heal intergenerational trauma while building authentic connections with themselves and with loved ones. Anxiety, depression, loss of meaning, and relational conflicts are but some of the ways a longing for authentic connection seeks our conscious and loving attention. My approach seeks to heal relational and developmental trauma via the therapeutic relationship, and my 13 years as an RN lend to our connection a unique sensitivity and capacity for understanding and holding the whole of this sometimes painful & mysterious human experience. Our work together will be present-tense, creative, collaborative, challenging, relational, transformative and in service to you.
Finally, context matters. Remember, we are living through extremely challenging times and everything hard might feel EXTRA hard right now. I hope I can help. I look forward to connecting with you soon- if I'm not a good match, I sincerely hope you find the perfect person to accompany you on your journey.
